Capture
your audience with video |

Advances
in video technology and software, has lead to a
dramatic reduction in costs associated with television
and video production. A skilled camera man no longer
needs a $30,000 camera to capture broadcast quality
images, and multi-million dollar production facilities
have been replaced with personal computers. |

Cable
Television Marketing
Undoubtedly,
the king of all advertsing is the 30 second television
spot. It has launched some of the biggest brands
in the world, and has crushed others
into financial ruin (think dot com superbowl commercials).
While
the latter is what most small business people will
be concerned with, I think you should open yourself
up to the idea that television advertising might
just work for you.
Because
I am personally able to provide you with planning,
story boarding, shooting, editing, and placement,
television commercial production doesn't have to
break the bank.
Couple
that with the fact that cable television advertising
rates are surprisingly affordable, and you may have
a profitable strategy. |

How
do adults find out about products and services?
By coupling a television
advertising campaign with an effective website, you can capture
more of your potential customer base than ever before.
Thirty second cable
spots on CNN, MTV, The
Discovery Channel, and others is only one way to
use cable television.
Some businesses
can find even greater success by employing the often misunderstood
30 minute infomercial. |

Television
Infomercials
Part entertainment,
part advertising, the 30 minute infomercial can be an extremely
effective tool if your product or service lends itself to
demonstration. Infomercials work on a principle called "Direct
Response". The goal of the program is to get the viewer
to call or visit your website right then and there. Infomercials
can also be extremely affordable to air due to governement
cable deregulation rules.
Leased
Access
In the 1980's the
goverment deregulated the cable television business. In doing
so, they enacted the "Communications Policy Act"
of 1984. This law states that if a cable provider carries
more than 36 channels they are required to set aside 10 to
15 percent of their stations for commercial leased access.
Leased access station rates are mandated by the government,
and range from as little as $10 to around $100 per half hour
of programming. These rates are ridiculously low compared
to standard television advertising, and the leased access
option is typically not disclosed by television media sales
people.
A producer can
air any kind of programming on leased access as long as the
content is not "inappropriate for the community standards,
due to gratuitous sex, violence or profanity."
Flexibility
of Video
Even if television
advertising is not right for your business, video still may
have it's place. Many businesses captilize on the power of
video by creating DVD promotional handouts, training videos,
streaming internet video, and many others.
